Tooth
and Diet
The types of food you eat dictates your dental health. Foods
like soy sauce, curry, red wine, tea, and berries easily stain
teeth. Extremely hot or cold liquids expand and contract your
teeth, allowing stains to penetrate your teeth. Acidic foods
create holes that allows stains to move into your teeth. And
ofcourse, tobacco is a big culprit for ruining white smiles
because it quickly stains teeth yellow. |

Do You Have Bad Breath?
The easiest way to figure out if you have bad breath is by
licking the back of your hand and blowing on it. Have a smell.
This is almost as bad as your breath actually smells. To check
if you might have halitosis, smell your unscented floss after
flossing. If it smells bad, you might have halitosis. How
do you get rid of bad breath? Obviously, regular brushing
helps, but one of the best ways to fight bad breath is with
regular tongue scraping. Ever so often, we like to
give away tongue scrapers to our patients, so feel free to
contact the office to pick up your tongue scraper.
When NOT to Brush Your Teeth
It is better to wait at least a half-an-hour after drinking
soda prior to brushing your teeth. According to a study at
Goettingen University in Germany, brushing is 3-5 times more
effective at protecting enamel from the erosive effects of
carbonated drinks. It is optimal to allow your saliva some
time to help repair against the damage caused by aciden substances
prior to brushing.
